INBOUND 2015 is like the Beyoncé of marketing and sales conferences. And lucky for the attendees, the four day mind-blowing is almost upon us. While Inbound warrants a lot of excitement alone, the event also happens to be hosted in one of the country's coolest cities––Boston, MA.
As someone who has never had the pleasure of venturing to the tea party state, I'm pretty pumped to make the most of my time inside and outside of the convention center. And, if you're anything like me, you obsessively plan itineraries to maximize your time in a new place. Here is a list of 8 awesome things you need to do while you're in Boston (I will be):
1. See a game at Fenway Park
Home of the Boston Red Sox, catching a game in this iconic park after a long day of speakers and seminars sounds like a great way to cap off the evening. With a beer an a dawg to go with it, of course. There are games on Tuesday Sep. 8th and Wednesday Sep. 9th starting at 7:10pm. Or, take in the game at Boston's ultimate sports bar, the Bleacher Bar, where you can watch the full 9 innings from the comfort of your bar stool.

2. Attend opening night of the comedy musical "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum"
Ok, it doesn't have to be opening night, but live a little! The show, a broadway comedy about a Roman slave trying to gain his freedom, runs from Thursday Sep. 10th through the rest of the week, evening shows starting at 8pm.
3. Hit the Freedom Trail
Or any one of Boston's iconic historical sites, just take your pick! Seriously, there is so much 'Murica in Boston you can't help but get your patriotism on. The scenic walk of the Freedom Trail will take you to 16 historically significant sites across two miles, which seems like a solid history to walking ratio to me.
4. Eat everything
This could be a glorios post in itself, but it's close to lunch time and I just can't do that to myself. While Inbound will make sure you're fed and happy, a new town means new eateries. As per my personal research and pestering of North dwelling companions, I will be seeking out the following (listed in no particular order):
- Lobster and/or just lots of seafood
- An original boston cream pie
- Itlaian food in the North End
- All of these donuts
5. See a show during the Boston Comedy Arts Festival
Lucky for us, Boston always has something going on. Coming off Labor Day weekend, the events calendar is still in full swing, and the Comedy Arts Festival sounds like an absolute blast. With a wide variety of comedic stylings and performances to choose from, there's sure to be something that will get a laugh out of you. Running from Wednesday Sep. 9th - Sunday Sep. 13th, you'll find me at Happy Kareoke Fun Time.
6. Take your lunch on the Common
The common is one of Boston's many historical landmarks, and a beautiful one at that. The grounds have hosted soldiers of the Revolution, Civil War recruiting, and George Washington celebrating our new found independece from the British. So, if you feel like eating your lunch sitting in the most American grass you'll ever have the pleasure of being under your butt, this is the place to do it.
7. Watch the Patriots play their first game of the NFL season
Of my sports bucket list items (of which there are not many), seeing a season kick-off game makes the cut. The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers will be taking the field on Thursday, Sep 10th. Aformentioned North dwellers name this as a top priority, but I say lobster and donuts comes first.
8. Go to Oktoberfest
While this is happening over the weekend after INBOUND, I felt the need to include it because beer and sausage and German themed outfits. Plus there's a pancake tent. A tent dedicated to pancakes inside of a festival dedicated to beer. All hail carbs and the joy they bestow upon the world.
Don't just take my word for it––or do, this is a great list––there's a ton of cool events going on Monday through Sunday and a whole city waiting to be explored by curious inbound marketers. Thanks for not hosting the conference in North Dakota or something, HubSpot, that would have been a bummer.
T-minus 20 days. See you at Inbound!
